Mold Inspection

We believe that inspecting for mold is vital for the health of the patient.

Many individuals can have adverse reactions to the presence of molds. Certain molds may actually produce toxic by-products, for example, aflatoxin in peanuts, or simple black mold on damp walls. The method of ingestion may influence the mode of action of such contaminants; eating aflatoxin contaminated peanuts could lead to cancer, while inhalation of black mold spores has numerous harmful health effects.  We believe that it is vital for the well-being of the patient to get all medical cannabis inspected for mold; especially since the most commonly used method of ingestion, inhalation, may have detrimental health effects.

At Green Leaf Lab, we determine the presence of mold through an external examination with ultra violet light which causes many contaminants to fluoresce and thereby reveal their presence to the unaided eye. This is followed by visual examination for mold mycelium with a high powered light microscope.

Screening for mold will assure that the medical cannabis is essentially free of this contamination and is safe for ingestion.  Screening for mold will assist patients with their health needs and support providers in caring for their patients.
